The aging process on furniture as demonstrated by Winnie Saayman

We gave this old furniture a bright new look.

Requirements: sandpaper, undercoat, wax, topcoat, sealer eg. Wondaseal.

Sand furniture slightly with 100 grit sandpaper.
Paint furniture with one coat Plascon primer/ GP Undercoat.
Tip: don’t paint primer in grooves- the dark lines can be used for an interesting effect.

Rub candle wax onto areas to be accentuated eg. corners and sides.
Be selective. Visualize how the furniture would wear out.
Tip: do not apply wax in the sun or in a warm room. It will melt and hinder the aging process.

Paint two coats of paint in the desired colour eg. Tudor, Ivory or Sagewood brush.

Scratch and scrape areas where wax was applied. It will be easily removed because paint do not adhere to wax. Seal with two coats of wondaseal.

With interesting décor finishes the furniture was changed into a masterpiece that can be used as a focal point in any room.
